Tottenham agree new signing, he will pen long-term contract imminently - sources

George Feeney will sign a long-term contract at Tottenham imminently ahead of a move to north London this summer, sources tell Football Insider.

Spurs have beaten off interest in the 16-year-old from rival Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace, Brighton and West Ham.

This comes shortly after Football Insider exclusively reveal on 15 May that Spurs have agreed a deal to sign Feeney from Northern Irish side Glentoran.

The competition for the striker’s signature intensified in recent months with elite clubs tracking his progress, but Spurs have now won the race and are putting the finishing touches to the deal.

George Feeney agrees long-term Tottenham contract

After making his debut for Glentoran aged just 15, Feeney has scored one goal in ten first-team appearances this season.

The striker is the son of former Northern Ireland international Warren Feeney, who handed him his senior debut while he was the manager.

Feeney has also been handed recognition at international level after featuring for Wales’ under-16s side.

Tottenham were able to secure his signature after they persuaded the youngster that they would be the best option for him to continue his development.

Given the level of interest in the forward from rival teams, the move is seen as a huge coup by Tottenham’s recruitment department.

While he remains a way off making a first-team appearance, the deal for the 16-year-old could kickstart a busy summer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Football Insider sources say the club is planning a “huge” overhaul, with several players expected to depart, while “exciting” incomings are to be expected.

In other news, fans think Ange Postecoglou could quit Tottenham after his furious rant.
