Man United to sack Erik ten Hag imminently - ex-PL CEO

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted there is “no way” Erik ten Hag will remain as Man United manager and he will be sacked soon.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – admitted the 54-year-old has faced a “tough situation” but is not the “right fit” at Old Trafford.

As per Sky Sports (10 May), Ten Hag has been bullish about his future – claiming he is not worried about being sacked because Man United’s INEOS ownership have “common sense”.

United ran out 3-2 winners against Newcastle on Wednesday (15 May) but they sit eighth in the table with one game remaining.

If they remain eighth, it will be their worst-ever Premier League finish.

Ten Hag ‘on borrowed time’ at Man United, says Wyness

Ten Hag has the opportunity to win his second trophy as United boss when his side face Man City in the FA Cup final later this month (25 May).

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think he’s on borrowed time. There’s no way he stays.

“He’s not had the right support and he’s been overwhelmed with the club in turmoil.

“Ten Hag has had a tough situation to handle, the same as David Moyes when he took over.

“There’s been a lot of musical chairs going on with the top-level executives, so it’s bound to be difficult for the manager.

“I just don’t think Ten Hag is the right fit, and the new owners will see another route forward for the club.

“Unfortunately, I think this is the end of his time at Man United.”
