‘France are favourites to win the Euros on paper’ – Przemysław Frankowski’s assesses Poland’s future opponent – Get French Football News

France and Poland will once again meet in an international tournament after they were drawn in the same group for this summer’s Euros. The two teams previously met in the 2022 World Cup during the Round of 16 which France won 3-1 on their route to the final.

France are once again widely considered to be favourites for when the two teams meet in Germany for the final game in the group stages. Poland struggled to reach the competition, as their qualification campaign got off to a poor start under Fernando Santos.

The former Euros winner with Portugal was fired after only six games and a shock 2-0 defeat to Albania looked to damage their chances of reaching the finals. The turnaround under Michał Probierz was not immediately apparent but eventually Poland picked up steam to navigate their way through the playoffs.

For Przemysław Frankowski (29), who plays his football in France with RC Lens, their final opponents in the group stage look to be their trickiest. As he stated in an interview with RMC Sport, “Of course, they are very strong. There are a lot of good players. For me, they’re the favourites to win the Euro on paper. However, the pitch remains the pitch, but honestly they’re very strong.”

The fullback believed that despite their defeat to France in 2022 it was a game that showed that Poland would have chances this summer, “It was our best match at the World Cup. We had good opportunities to open the scoring. But when you don’t score against a team like that, then they will […] But it was a good experience for us to play France. Maybe we’ll be better prepared to play them again.”
