West Ham keen on signing – Player’s agents inform club he’s open to summer move – Sport Witness

West Ham United target Steven Bergwijn should leave Ajax this summer, according to the latest reports from the Dutch media.

Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by Soccer News, had journalist Johan Inan on their podcast talking about the winger’s options for the summer window. He claims it’s the player’s staff who’ve been feeding the idea of a move.

“A month ago, his management informed the club that they were open to a move. That could be a sporting step to the Bundesliga or Premier League, where West Ham United is still interested.”

Back in January, when West Ham had already been linked to Bergwijn, the player himself admitted he read about the Hammers’ interest in him.

Recent reports in the European media claimed that Ajax are set to consider his sale, and he’s set to cost around €25m.

Captaining the Dutch side this season, Bergwijn currently has 13 goals and five assists in 30 appearances, despite a couple of injuries which sidelined him for weeks.

The winger managed to prove himself again in Eredivisie despite a previous disappointing experience in the Premier League, where he couldn’t succeed at Tottenham Hotspur.

With both him and Ajax now considering a summer move, it seems like a nice situation for West Ham, as long as they’re willing to match the price for his transfer.
