Player will ‘most likely return’ to Nottingham Forest – Club not pleased with him, ‘preparing to part ways’ – Sport Witness

Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall joined Beşiktaş on loan in the winter market, having lost his place at the Premier League side in the first half of this season.

To put it in context, the centre-back was restricted to four appearances, including two in the FA Cup, since mid-September.

The Nottingham Forest owned player’s situation has improved slightly at the Turkish club as he clocked in 584 minutes from eight games so far.

Beşiktaş have an option to make the 27-year-old’s stay permanent but won’t exercise it. That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of Milliyet, and their report’s title reads: ‘Worrall says goodbye’

Within the report, it’s stated the Istanbul club signed him on a free loan deal and agreed to pay €600,000 in salary. This move hasn’t worked out well for them as the defender ‘could not fully meet expectations’.

Beşiktaş appointed Serdar Topraktepe as interim coach after sacking Fernando Santos in April, and Worrall struggled to impress under both managers. They don’t intend to keep him and are ‘preparing to part ways’ with the Nottingham Forest man.

Milliyet further add Worrall is also keen on leaving Beşiktaş due to lack of regular game time. With both parties not looking to continue their association beyond this season, he will ‘most likely return’ to Nottingham Forest, where he has a deal until 2026.
