Newcastle submit 'big-money' Lloyd Kelly offer - sources

Newcastle United have offered a “big-money” four-year contract to Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies are currently in pole position to agree a deal to sign the 25-year-old once his contract expires at the end of June.

Talks are now advancing with Kelly as Eddie Howe looks to bolster his defensive options this summer, with the centre-back equally capable of playing at left-back.

Newcastle are also in the driving seat to secure the free transfer of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, with his deal also set to run out next month.

Newcastle could sign Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo

The central defensive pair would provide decent Premier League experience to the Newcastle side and add to their quota of homegrown, British players.

Although Kelly has spent a couple of spells on the sidelines, he has caught the eye in his 24 appearances for Bournemouth this season.

Football Insider previously revealed the England youth international has turned down multiple contract offers to remain at the Vitality Stadium beyond this campaign.

The centre-back has featured 140 times for the Cherries since making the move from Bristol City in 2019, with 53 of those outings coming in the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed in March that Tottenham are also interested in signing Kelly this summer, but it’s Newcastle who are currently leading the race.

If the Magpies can secure free transfers for both Kelly and Adarabioyo, that would provide Howe with more options at the back and leave some extra cash in the back to strengthen other areas of his side.

Football Insider revealed on 14 May that Newcastle are plotting moves for Crystal Palace stars Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise this summer.

The Tyneside club are also close to appointing Palace technical director Dougie Freedman to replace Dan Ashworth, who agreed to join Manchester United in February.
