Manager rejects West Ham because he sees it as ‘step backwards’ – Hammers request knocked back – Sport Witness

Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic recently rejected a move to West Ham United, as he considered it a step down.

That’s according to Sport BILD, who say West Ham recently contacted Terzic about a potential return to the club, but it was quickly rejected.

The Hammers are on the hunt for David Moyes’ replacement after it was decided the Scot will depart this summer and have been talking to coaches around Europe for the best part of a month.

Julen Lopetegui appears to be the chosen man, but several other names have been linked with the position and Terzic can now be added to the list.

According to Sport BILD, West Ham contacted the Borussia Dortmund manager to ask whether he could imagine a return to the club, where he worked as Slaven Bilic’s assistant manager earlier in his career.

However, Terzic immediately blocked the request as he didn’t want any distractions for him and his team, who have reached the Champions League final.

He also didn’t believe that a move to West Ham would be the right one for him, considering it a ‘step backwards’, given where Dortmund are at this moment in time.

This is not the first time Terzic has been linked with the Premier League this week, with a report on Monday saying Tottenham and Newcastle had also been in the mix for him with West Ham.

At the time that felt like a little bit of PR, perhaps even from Terzic’s team, and this report on the Hammers and turning them down has that same air about it. Either way, he’s not going back, and West Ham will be looking elsewhere.
