Celtic fans rage as controversial Rangers footage analysed from new angle

Celtic fans were left raging despite their 2-1 Old Firm victory against Rangers after they were denied a penalty by VAR official Steven McLean.

Celtic held a narrow lead in the second half, when Dujon Sterling appeared to handle the ball in the box – an incident that both the referee Willie Collum, and VAR missed.

Slowed-down replays of the incident appeared to show the Rangers player’s elbow move towards the ball, knocking it away.

Despite the eventual result which saw Celtic put one hand on the SPFL title, moving six points clear of their rivals, fans could not believe the call was missed.

Fans pointed to VAR official McLean as the problem, with one even citing “unconscious bias” as the reason for missing the incident.

Most were adamant they should have had a penalty which would have allowed them to put the game beyond all doubt – despite Matt O’Riley seeing his previous effort saved by Jack Butland.

Meanwhile, plenty of supporters insisted the decision would have been given the other way.

In other news, Celtic are now braced for bids to sign Matt O’Riley.
