Borussia Dortmund plot move to sign Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham - sources

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Sunderland attacking midfielder Jobe Bellingham this summer, sources have told Football Insider

The 18-year-old has just completed an impressive first season with the Black Cats after making the move from Birmingham City last June.

Sources say Sunderland need to make a “major” sale once the transfer window reopens after their latest accounts showed they made a £9million operating loss in 2022-23.

Bellingham could fetch a big fee this summer after scoring seven goals in his 47 appearances for the club.

The teenager is under contract at the Stadium of Light until 2027.

Dortmund could sign Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland

It’s been a successful season for Bellingham after nailing down a place in the Sunderland side and proving he can cut it in the Championship at such a young age.

The attacking midfielder, who can also operate as a striker, started in 43 of his 45 league appearances as the Black Cats finished 16th in the table.

Sunderland would likely make a healthy profit if they were to sell the teenager this summer after signing him for just £1.5million plus add-ons.

Champions League finalists Dortmund are considering a potential move for Bellingham after helping his brother, Jude, become one of the best players in world football during his time at the club.

The Bundesliga side are known for scooping up young talents and developing them into superstars.

Bellingham could potentially be the next budding young talent to join the German club, but Sunderland will demand a reasonable chunk of change for his services.

They are also all likely to sell Jack Clarke once the transfer window reopens after Football Insider previously revealed the club are resigned to losing their star forward this summer.

In other news, Championship side line up flurry of big-money summer deals.
