Leeds United plan to accept £12m Brenden Aaronson bid - sources

Leeds United plan to sell Brendan Aaronson this summer regardless of which division they are playing in next season, sources have told Football Insider.

The USA international has spent this campaign on loan at Bundesliga club Union Berlin after deciding to leave the Whites following their relegation to the Championship.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has no future at Elland Road and is not expected to play for the club again once his time in Germany comes to an end.

Leeds United to sell Brenden Aaronson after Union Berlin loan

Aaronson has faced a tough couple of years since joining Leeds in a £25million deal from Red Bull Salzburg, with his contract set to run until 2027.

The American made 40 appearances for the Whites in their relegation campaign, but he only scored one goal and laid on three assists.

He left Elland Road on loan last summer after deciding he didn’t want to play for the club in the Championship.

But it hasn’t been plain sailing for the attacker in Germany, having started in just 14 of his 37 appearances, where he’s registered just two goals and one assist.

Reports have suggested a permanent deal will not be financially viable for Union Berlin this summer despite Aaronson’s price tag dropping to £12million.

There seems to be no way back for the American with Leeds no matter which division they are playing in next season.

Daniel Farke’s side are currently level on aggregate with Norwich City in their Championship playoff semi-final as they look to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

Leeds United

Football Insider revealed on 5 May the Whites could be forced to sell several players this summer after their latest accounts showed £73.6million worth of their outstanding transfer fees are due to be paid by the end of June this year.

The club will look to raise that cash by offloading some of the players they loaned out last summer, with Aaronson one of those expected to leave Elland Road permanently.
