Dutch coach has solved Liverpool problem before Slot arrival – Big decision, path to Anfield clear – Sport Witness

Dutch coach Sipke Hulshoff has elected to step down from his role with the Netherlands national team, paving the way for him to join Liverpool.

That’s according to ESPN’s Dutch edition, who say ‘the way seems clear’ for Hulshoff to join Arne Slot at Liverpool this summer.

A report at the end of last month stated that Sipke had a decision to make about his future as Liverpool wanted him to join Slot at Anfield immediately but that would clash with Euro 2024, where he was set to be Ronald Koeman’s assistant for the Netherlands.

That report detailed how he had been told to sort out the problem himself and it seems that he has done just that.

ESPN report that Hulshoff has resigned from his duties as assistant manager for the Netherlands, paving the way for him to join Liverpool alongside Slot as soon as possible.

He has informed the KNVB that he will be leaving immediately, and has already been replaced by Dwight Lodeweges, who was Koeman’s assistant during his first spell in charge.

Slot’s move to Liverpool is still not official but according to insiders the Reds plan to announce it next week once Jurgen Klopp’s reign is officially over after the final game of the season.
