“This is just the beginning” – Player finds joy after torrid time at Wolves, and he couldn’t be happier – Sport Witness

Patrick Cutrone spent three years at Wolverhampton Wanderers before leaving them permanently for Serie B side Como in 2022.

He arrived at Molineux from AC Milan and managed three goals and four assists from 28 matches for Wolves. During his time with them, the Premier League side sent him on loan to Fiorentina, Valencia and Empoli, and he wasn’t able to impress at any of these clubs.

The striker has put his torrid time at Wolves behind him and is enjoying life at Como. After managing nine goals and two assists last season, he has improved this tally by scoring 14 goals and registering five assists from 32 Serie B games.

Cutrone was born in Como and played a key role in helping the club return to Serie A. Gazzetta dello Sport had a chat with the former Wolves man and after talking about his experience at Como, Cutrone shared his delight at a return to the top division.

When asked what it means for him to return to Serie A, he said: “I’m more mature, but this promotion is just the beginning of what I want to demonstrate.

“I’m proud, Serie A was missing in Como for 21 years: this is history. Playing in front of people you knew as a child, seeing them during the week and at the stadium, gave me an extra boost.”

On the possibility of returning to the Italy national team, Cutrone explained: “The national team remains a dream. I just have to keep working like this. Then, in two years…”

The 26-year-old went through a difficult time after Milan forced the Wolves move on him, and it’s good to see him enjoying his football.
