Olivier Giroud confirms AC Milan departure ahead of MLS adventure – Get French Football News

In a video posted on AC Milan’s media channels, Olivier Giroud (37) has confirmed that he will leave the Serie A side at the end of the season.

The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Montpellier HSC forward has spent three years with AC Milan. In that time, he won the title and registered 48 goals and 20 assists in 130 matches. Having been a key part of the Rossoneri’s success in recent years, he will now leave the club and head to the MLS.

“I am going to continue my career, but in the MLS. I am very happy with everything that I have done here [at AC Milan] in the last three years. It is the right time to say it. I am a bit emotional because AC Milan will always be in my heart. I made my decision a few weeks ago and I have given everything for this club,” said Giroud.

Giroud will therefore soon say goodbye to the European game. It is also expected that he will retire from international duty after the upcoming Euros in Germany. He will then head to the MLS where he is expected to join former international teammate Hugo Lloris at Los Angeles FC. Whilst Giroud didn’t confirm LAFC as his future destination in Monday’s announcement, it has been widely reported that he will join the club upon the expiry of his contract at AC Milan.
