Graham Potter 'nailed-on' to be appointed Man United manager - pundit

Graham Potter would have been a shoo-in to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United if not for his disappointing spell at Chelsea.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Paul Robinson explained that Potter’s previous experience working with extensive behind-the-scenes staff would suit the new setup under INEOS at Man United.

Potter managed just 22 Premier League games at Chelsea, winning just seven while losing six and drawing the remaining seven.

However, it was said that the United board could overlook that spell given the struggles of his successors in West London.

Football Insider revealed that Ten Hag will be sacked at the end of the season, opening the opportunity for someone like Potter to take his place.

It has also been said by Football Insider sources that even a win in the FA Cup final would not save the manager’s job at Old Trafford.

Potter’s spell in charge of the Blues ended in 2023 and he has been out of work since, despite earning rave reviews for his achievements while in charge of Brighton.

Robinson insisted he would not have become a bad coach overnight, insisting his appointment could be a real possibility if Ten Hag is sacked.

For Manchester United, it’s an interesting one,” he told Football Insider.

If Graham Potter hadn’t blotted his copybook at Chelsea, I think with the structure and the people there, I think he would be a shoo-in for Man United.

The way he works in that structure, he coaches and works with the players he’s given.

Whether they look at the Chelsea situation and say he wasn’t the only manager to struggle under that regime and it just didn’t work for him, he doesn’t become a bad coach overnight.

Whether that’s somebody that they look at, I think it’s a realistic possibility and he could still be nailed-on.”

In other news, a big update has emerged on the possibility of Harry Kane joining United.
