Liverpool will have £500m+ war chest after 'agreement in principle'

Liverpool will be allowed to spend £505million on wages and transfer fees under new Premier League financial rules, Football Insider can reveal.

Top-flight clubs have agreed in principle to adopt new cost control rules from the 2025-26 season onwards.

The current Profit and Sustainability Rules which allow clubs to lose a maximum of £105million over three years will be scrapped and the 2024-25 season will be used as a transitional period.

The new squad-cost ratio system will cap spending on transfer fees, wages and agent fees to 85 percent of a club’s overall revenue.

Liverpool generated £594million in revenue in their latest 2022-23 accounts, meaning the Merseyside outfit will be free to spend £505million under new rules.

With the Anfield Road expansion now complete and Liverpool on track to qualify for the new Champions League format in 2024-25, the club will expect their revenue levels to soar in time for the new regulations in 2025-26.
