Tottenham have ‘sent observers’ to watch 11-goal forward – Spurs ‘have the money’ to seal the deal – Sport Witness

Even before the January transfer window started, Tottenham were said to be one of the clubs interested in signing Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa.

Spurs never signed the Iceland international, but they did enter into some very rewarding talks with the Serie A side for the transfer of Radu Dragusin and loan of Djed Spence.

The fact Tottenham and the Italians got on so well bodes well for the London club’s chances to sign Gudmundsson going forward, as Gazzetta dello Sport once again name them as an interested party on Tuesday.

They explain that if the forward continues to play as well as he has done during the first half of the campaign it will be ‘impossible’ to keep him in the summer, even if Genoa stood firm in January when Fiorentina came knocking with €24m.

That’s because teams of a different calibre are likely to arrive in the next transfer window, since the player is appreciated by Inter Milan and ‘in the sights’ of Premier League teams like Tottenham.

Spurs are ‘interested’ in the footballer, and have ‘sent their observers’ to watch him play this season, with it explained they and other English teams ‘have the money’ to make sure they ‘close the operation’ for him.

Previous reports have suggested Genoa will want upwards of €30m for their star, who has scored 11 goals and assisted another three in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.
