Everton news: Big update on Calvert-Lewin’s future

Could Everton star Dominic-Calvert Lewin end his eight-year spell at Goodison Park at the end of the season?

Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to attract attention from multiple Premier League sides in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that a host of top-flight sides have held a long-term interest in the striker and could race to secure his services in the off-season.

However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Englishman would have to prove his fitness levels before attracting big-money bids.

Calvert-Lewin has missed 21 games for the Toffees since the start of last season and has been plagued with knee and hamstring injuries in recent years, so another setback could cause his valuation to drop or prevent a sale altogether.

Amid the Toffees’ continued financial troubles, the threat of relegation, their 10-point deduction and their pending takeover by 777 Partners, they could be forced into selling key players.

As revealed by Football Insider (9 February), Jordan Pickford could be sacrificed to raise funds if Everton do not get their financial affairs in order.

High-value stars Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana could also be sold, with Football Insider revealing (12 February) that they are in line to be sold in the summer amid interest from Man United and Arsenal respectively.

Calvert-Lewin has bagged four goals and two assists in all competitions this season and provided an assist for Jack Harrison’s equalising goal against Tottenham last week (3 February).

However, he has failed to score in the league since Everton’s 1-0 win against West Ham United back in October.

Everton sit 18th in the Premier League table after their 2-0 defeat against title contenders Man City on Saturday afternoon (10 February).

They are next set to face Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday 19 February.
