Lazio failed with their efforts to sign Sunderland’s Jack Clarke in the winter market.
They had looked at the Championship to bolster their attack in the last window and identified the Sunderland player and Plymouth Argyle’s Morgan Whittaker as targets.
The Biancocelesti weren’t able to secure the duo’s services and Il Messaggero, relayed by Calciomercato, now state they ‘still have’ their eyes on the second tier of English football.
It’s claimed the Serie A side have identified Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham as a new target.
According to the report, the England U19 international is currently valued at €10m, which seems fancifully low. They add he may not fit well into Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation at the Italian club but the manager has shown that he can mould players to adapt to his system.
For now, it’s explained that there’s only interest from Lazio in the Black Cats star. They are looking at several youngsters and Bellingham’s name is included in the list.
It’s clear the Championship is ‘particularly attractive’ for Lazio and therefore, the report says the Bellingham track needs to be ‘monitored closely’ in the coming months.
