Brentford ‘put brakes’ on negotiations for signing – Bees impose ‘very important condition’ – Sport Witness

At the weekend, Antonio Nusa made his first appearance for Club Brugge since Brentford decided to step away from his signing in the winter market. The winger was on the pitch for 79 minutes in his side’s 4-0 win over Eupen.

The Bees were concerned after they found a piece of cartilage in the winger’s knee during the medical, forcing them to put the deal on hold.

Last week, claims from Belgium stated repeat tests have indicated there’s no great danger to his future This is again relayed by Voetbalkrant, who provide the latest on Brentford’s stance on the 18-year-old.

Thomas Frank’s side had a €37m deal in place with Club Brugge for Nusa in January, The report states the two clubs have sat at the negotiations table in ‘recent days’ to complete the transfer, but it hasn’t worked out so far.

It’s claimed the Jupiler Pro League side intend to go ahead but Brentford have ‘put the brakes on’ this operation. That’s because the London club ‘will wait and see’ how the Norway international’s knee reacts in the coming weeks and months.

This is the ‘very important condition’ imposed by Brentford, before making a decision on whether to go ahead with the transfer.

Four days ago, the same website suggested the Bees want a discount. If Nusa were to convince Brentford in the coming weeks, it remains to be seen whether the deal will go ahead for €37m or whether a new agreement needs to be found with Club Brugge.
