Brentford are ‘spectacular’ in the transfer market and will not struggle to find a replacement for Ivan Toney if they sell him to Arsenal in the summer.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Brentford’s impressive trading model.
Bees boss Thomas Frank publicly admitted this week that Toney ‘will probably be sold this summer’ amid interest from multiple Premier League clubs.
As revealed by Football Insider, Arsenal lead the race to sign Toney with Mikel Arteta eager to sign a striker with a physical profile.
The 27-year-old’s contract is set to expire in summer 2025, putting pressure on Brentford to cash in on him this summer before his value drastically decreases.
Is Toney to Arsenal a done deal?
Maguire believes Brentford’s transfer strategy will allow them to find ‘the next equivalent’ of Toney if he is sold in the summer.
“Brentford are a trading club and they know the value of the market well,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“They have been spectacular in the transfer market when it comes to finding the likes of Ivan Toney and other players and this sale would give them money to use within their particular model.
“They will recruit people who will be the next equivalent to Toney if they get £100million.
“Tottenham got £82million for Harry Kane and Bayern Munich certainly don’t regret it.
“So Brentford will be happy with the fee.
“He’s been a good servant to the club and somebody will be acquiring a very good talent in an area which is very rare in the Premier League.“
