“I’m very happy” – West Ham man after first game since January move, ‘couldn’t have got off to a better start’ – Sport Witness

After a long wait following a chaotic deadline day loan move from West Ham United to Lyon, Saïd Benrahma was able to represent the Ligue 1 side for the first-time.

He started the game, perhaps to the surprise of a few, and managed close to 60 minutes on the pitch in what was eventually a 2-1 away win for his side against Montpellier

The West Ham loanee may not have scored a provided an assist, but he produced a good display, which he was very happy with, saying as much after the game in quotes relayed by Goal France.

He said: “I couldn’t have got off to a better start. I played about 60 minutes and I’m really happy. I wanted to be out there, wanted to play. With three wins in three games, we need to keep the momentum going. I felt good, even though I still don’t know the team very well, but I’m happy.“I’m getting to know my teammates and I think there will be good things to come. I think we deserved the win, because we had chances and we controlled the ball.”

The fact he was playing 60 minutes in a league game was a bit of a change from his time at West Ham this season, where he only managed that twice since the 2-1 win against Luton Town back in early September.

The Algeria international had gone from key player under David Moyes last season to a rotation option this campaign, which led to his paid loan move to Lyon with an option to buy included.

This means he may have played his final game for West Ham, all depending on how he does with the Ligue 1 side and whether they avoid relegation, but it appears everything has started on the right foot.
