Director confirms they are getting ‘big, big money’ from Tottenham transfer and another – Sums in media ‘rarely correct’ – Sport Witness

Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna are set to benefit from Lucas Bergvall’s move to Tottenham Hotspur as they receive 20% of the figure Spurs paid for him.

That’s according to DN in Sweden, who cover how BP are set to pocket a small fortune from their former players securing transfers in the winter transfer window.

The newspaper explains that Bergvall’s move to Tottenham, which is believed to have cost the Premier League side 113m Swedish Kroner, or around £8.5m, will include a payment to his former club for around 20% of that figure.

Bergvall started his career with IF Brommapojkarna before moving up their youth ranks and then joining Djurgårdens IF last year, where he has since established himself as one of the rising talents in Europe and secured his move to Tottenham.

That’s delighted BP, who alongside their 20% from Bergvall have also brought in 30% of Jonah Kusi-Asare’s move to Bayern Munich, after he joined them from AIK last month.

Thus, thanks to Bergvall’s sale and that deal with Bayern, the Swedish side have earned a reported SEK 40.6m in a couple of days of player transactions.

Most would be delighted with that, and club director Peter Kleve clearly is, admitting the funds will be used to build an even stronger base at the club moving forwards, although hinting they might not be getting quite that much.

“The sums reported in the media are rarely correct,” he said.

“But, of course, millions of dollars are flowing in to BP. Whether it’s 20 or 30, it’s big, big money that causes delicate problems.

“We started a major investment in youth activities last year. How will we be able to give even more back to all the players and parents there. We have gone from having one sports director (on the youth side) to eight, four full-time and four part-time.

“It’s important for us to have a functioning grassroots organisation. When a player leaves to go abroad or to another club, we need to be able to replenish from team two and team three. Therefore, the education of the 4,000 children we have is important.”
